JBL Coach Code Of Conduct

The Jersey Basketball League (JBL) endeavors to create a league in which its player-participants can develop basketball skills and enjoy competition in a safe and fun environment. All coaches in the JBL will abide by the following Code of Conduct.
Coaches are responsible for their Spectators, Assistant Coaches, Players, Timekeepers, & Scorers
Assistant coaches, timekeepers and scorers are not to address the officials, opponents, or spectators.
Coaches in the JBL shall:
a) Remove the violator him/herself from the gym.
b) Call the police to remove the violator
c) Forfeit the game if they will not do either a or b
Each Coach/Player Technical Foul will count 1 pt to the Team Conduct Violation total.
Any Coach/Player/Spectator Ejections will result in the following penalties*:
1st Offense – If any individual player, coach, timekeeper, scorer, or spectator is ejected from a game, that person will not be allowed to attend or participate in the next 2 games.
2nd Offense – That person(s) will be suspended for the next 5 games.
3rd Offense – Results in that person(s) suspension from the League indefinitely.
Positive Coaches Alliance Course - Any Coach suspended from a game must take the following PCA course at their own expense or they will not be allowed to attend JBL games until taken:

*Coach Ejections do not reset the following year, they are cumulative
Each Coach/Player/Spectator Ejection will count 2 pts to the Team total
ANY TEAM WHO HAS ACCRUED A TOTAL OF 5 CODE OF CONDUCT POINTS ARE INELIGIBLE FOR THE PLAYOFFS. IF THEY ACCRUE 10 POINTS, THE TEAM WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE LEAGUE
The JBL Director will receive reports regarding an incident, review them with the league’s Discipline Committee, & then issue suspensions as outlined in the Code of Conduct. The Town Director is responsible for notifying the individual about their suspension.
The JBL reserves the right to suspend any individuals from the program or its events in order to ensure the safety of its members and uphold its mission.
Appeals will only be considered when there is sufficient & compelling evidence that the suspension is unwarranted. Appeals related to an in-game judgment call by a referee will not be considered.
